You need not investigate to obtain information you do not have. 

For the purpose of this report, the following terms are used. (None of the terms is meant to denote responsibility for a violation, before an investigation occurs).

1. Complainant: the person who is a victim/survivor, target or the person impacted;
2. Respondent: the suspect, alleged offender, or person who harmed another;
3. Witness: the person with relevant knowledge of or information about the incident;
4. Responsible Employee: a faculty or staff member (including student staff) who is required to report.

A note about language: for the purpose of this report, "Complainant" is used to denote the person(s) who is the victim, target or person impacted. "Respondent" is used to denote the person who is alleged to be the offender or suspect.
